Small businesses must adopt green strategies to boost their competitiveness in markets demanding greater sustainability and continue operations amid a changing climate. Yet many small firms struggle to act.
In view of the Global SME Ministerial, this paper identifies three critical areas where targeted policies can support the green transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): strengthening access to green finance and technologies, closing the green skills gap and creating supportive regulatory frameworks. By presenting best practices from around the world, it offers actionable insights for policymakers to facilitate the green transition adapted to national contexts and SME needs.
