À l’échelle mondiale, les enfants d’âge scolaire qui souffrent de perte auditive bien souvent ne bénéficient d’aucun diagnostic et n’ont pas accès aux services nécessaires (Rapport mondial sur l’audition, 2021). La perte auditive touche environ 90 millions d’enfants et d’adolescents âgés de 5 à 19 ans, dans toutes les régions du monde (étude Global Burden of Disease, 2021). Cependant, elle est rarement détectée, surtout là où on dispose de peu de ressources.

Les causes courantes de perte auditive, qu’il est possible de prévenir et de traiter – comme l’otite moyenne avec épanchement (OME), l’otite moyenne chronique suppurée (OMCS) et les bouchons de cérumen – sont très fréquentes chez l’enfant. Parfois, la perte auditive commence de manière insidieuse mais progresse et s’aggrave avec le temps.  

Si elle n’est pas traitée, la perte auditive, gênante en elle-même, a aussi un impact significatif sur la parole, le langage et le développement cognitif et social, conduisant souvent une baisse des résultats scolaires, une dégradation des perspectives d’emploi et des désavantages économiques à long terme. 

Comment faire ?

Cette année, la Journée mondiale de la santé a pour thème « De la communauté à l’école : des soins auditifs pour chaque enfant ».

La campagne se concentre sur deux impératifs :

  • Prévenir la perte auditive chez l’enfant
  • Repérer et prendre en charge précocement les enfants ayant des problèmes auriculaires ou auditifs

Dans les communautés et les écoles, les enfants, les parents et le personnel enseignant sont facilement accessibles. En intégrant les soins auditifs dans les programmes de santé scolaire et de santé de l’enfant, nous pouvons aider les enfants à entendre, à apprendre et à réussir.

The Prêt à Parler Method

Each week, you will focus on a different topic to explore in session with your Super Prof. Our approach is "Come as you are and learn on the go," so no need to prepare anything! Just be open to talk about anything and to learn a lot! Our review document sent after the class via email will contain all grammar, vocabulary, and expression that have been useful during the session. Activities such as round tables, presentations, debates, and others will also be offered in class.
